Dear Friend,

On Thursday, October 10th, the Christian Education League, Better Work, and Faith Church came together to put on an amazing job fair event at Faith Church in Waterville.  We welcomed over 20 employers, numerous community resources, and over 60 Waterville area job seekers to a hiring event like no other!  The Christian Education League is pleased to report that with the help of our big sponsors, PRIME FINANCIAL, POWERS AUTO SALES, and HALLOWELL SEAFOOD & PRODUCE, over 50 volunteers from Faith, and other surrounding churches provided warm smiles, job coaching, interview prep, professional skill building, and hospitality.

Results of the fair include:

56 job applications were turned in!

26 on the spot interviews were conducted!

18 future interviews were scheduled!

5 on the spot hires were made!

Praise the Lord for His working and moving prior to and during this event! Some of the folks in attendance were so happy to be greeted with a smile and someone to walk them through the employer room. Our volunteers shared their stories with us. Here are a couple…

“A man with need for assistance due to his disability recieved help from a job coach throughout the whole process, she sat with him for over an hour filling out job applications.”

“A woman from Waterville said she would be getting a call from an employer today between 3PM5PM and she was all smiles and very excited!”

Our employers also enjoyed their time at the fair…

Anthony from Securitas, USA said, “Best career fair I have ever attended. We had folks fill out online applications due to company policy. However, I had a lot of interested job seekers. Thank you all!!!”

Equipping churches for these events takes time and financial resources.  As we continue to build-out the Better Work job fair model in Maine, we ask that you join us in praying for the financial provisions to fuel the growth of this ministry.  The primary role of the job fair model is to equip the church to establish a sustainable work force ministry that meets the felt needs of the individuals in their communities.  By reaching the unemployed, and under-employed, the church can provide real, tangible solutions, to poverty and all the challenges that come with it.

Thank you for praying and thank you for your contributions to the Christian Education League’s Outreach Programs that equip the local church!

God Bless,
