Dear Friend,
This may sound whiny, but one of my most challenging tasks as the League’s executive director is writing the monthly newsletter. I guess it’s the pressure to say just the right thing to inspire readers to invest in our efforts. When starting the writing process, I often imagine myself sitting at your kitchen table, bringing you up to speed on what we are doing and letting you know our needs.
I’ll start with the needs. In addition to our usual monthly expenses, we are asking our ministry partners to fund our Pews to the Polls campaign, the League’s effort to positively impact this election cycle. This is how we execute Pews to the Polls:
*Voter Guides–Developing, researching, printing, promoting, and distributing over 200 unique, non-partisan, federal, and state voter guides for over 400 candidates is the most significant component of this campaign.
*Get-Out-The-Vote–Last month, I announced our partnership with Christians Engaged and our joint effort to get Maine Christian citizens to pledge, pray, and vote. We will also identify irregular, pro-life voters and prompt them to vote through texting and social media strategies.
*Activist Engagement–Utilizing our Vol24 survey, we will identify individuals willing to support pro-family, pro-life candidates with campaign engagement. We will then connect them to those candidates via our trusted political ally network.
*Candidate Endorsement–We will endorse candidates who will defend Biblical values and promote those candidates on social media platforms, internet ads, and traditional media.
The goal for Pews to the Polls is $150,000. We have already spent well over $80,000—the time to give is now. Early voting starts the first week of October, and we need to engage voters as soon as possible. Your gift will determine our ability to impact this election.

We have an opportunity to increase the number of reliable legislators to stop the insanity in Augusta and Washington. Our neighbors and fellow citizens would have a much better chance to prosper and flourish with elected leaders who understand basic human biology and will defend the sanctity of life.
