Dear Friend,

Christ is risen! My prayer for all our League family is a blessed Easter as we gather with friends and family to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is victorious over death and the grave. Our Savior’s dominion over sin and death gives the League its very purpose and mission as He has called us to advocate for His truth in this world. Thanks to faithful and generous partners like you, I can testify that mission is being executed to the glory of God.

Speaking of truth, that’s exactly what the Lord calls us to do as our legislative session continues in Augusta – – speak the truth about:

  • the never-ceasing assault upon the image of God by Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry promoting their culture of death
  • the harm and devastation to vulnerable individuals and families by the attempts to expand gambling in our state
  • the greed of the tobacco industry trying to create lifelong, addicted consumers by marketing their poison to our children

Mike McClellan and Thomas Keith, our policy team, are waging the battle daily against these destructive forces. You can imagine the resources our opponents have at their disposal. We’re counting on you to provide everything Mike, Thomas, and our legislative allies need to fight the fight. Will you help us reach our goal of $40,000 for this year’s Beacon Campaign? I have enclosed comments from some of Maine’s leaders, letting you know just how critical and helpful the League’s support is to those legislators who are in the foxhole with us defending life, religious freedom, and Biblical values. I am also very happy to report the Church Ambassador Network is having a positive impact on the capitol. It’s been challenging setting up appointments for pastors to meet and pray with our legislators because of Covid restrictions; however, in the last two weeks of March, we’ve had over thirty such meetings. Legislators from both sides of the aisle have enthusiastically welcomed prayer with pastors from their districts. If you want to know more about the Church Ambassador Network, click here

One of the hardest (and least favorite) parts of my job is asking for money, but it is one of my most important responsibilities. I thank the Lord that we had a very successful End-of-Year Campaign in 2021 (BEST EVER!). Most of those funds raised are 501(c)3, tax-deductible gifts, and those funds cannot be used for lobbying or campaign activities. Donations to our Beacon Campaign are not tax-deductible, making those gifts more difficult to raise. That is why I am so excited and encouraged to announce that we have $20,000 in matching funds to help us reach our goal. If you can’t give or have already given, please join me in praying that we can take full advantage of this generous grant and see Maine become a state where God is honored, religious freedom flourishes, families thrive, and life is cherished.
