Parents Spoke; Message Received.

Dear Friends,

The nation woke up Wednesday morning to the news that a political earthquake occurred down in Virginia, where Republicans swept the three statewide offices (Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Attorney General), securing a red win for the first time since 2009. Some are shocked, but I think that many parents and families, especially those in Virginia, would argue that no one should be surprised. Over the past couple of years, as parental rights have been undermined and parents feel pushed out of their children’s education, many realized that the status quo could no longer be tolerated – for the sake of their children’s well-being.

The image above from the New York Times speaks for itself. Since the 2020 presidential election, family values have been under assault. The statewide shift to the right in Virginia should send a message to politicians and interest groups across the nation, that the efforts to keep parents out of their children’s education will result in major political shifts.

In Minnesota, voters overwhelmingly rejected the call to replace the police department in Minneapolis, and two incumbents who supported defunding the police were replaced. In New Jersey, Republican challenger Jack Ciattrelli is still hanging on, as no official winner has been declared.

And right here in Maine, several of the candidates endorsed by CCL Maine won their local races prompting Mike McClellan, the CCL Policy Director, to declare:

“Parents, you matter! You can make the difference in any election. The Youngkin victory in the VA Governor’s race shows what can happen when parents engage. No question, the concern over the left’s radical educational policies made the difference. Now to learn from VA for next year’s Maine races!”

Virginia parents and families set the example to the nation for how to mobilize and run an energetic campaign. Christian pro-family leaders here in Maine need to carry that momentum into our next elections, and we are prepared to equip candidates to run for office!

We hope that you will answer the call to step out and step up for the families of Maine by joining us at our Candidate Training event on December 10th and 11th. Registration is just $40, and the training will be led by Joseph Backholm and Zachary Freeman.

Backholm is the Senior Fellow for Biblical Worldview and Strategic Engagement at the Family Research Council, and will help participants clarify their “why” in running for office. Freeman is the CEO & Managing Partner at Imperial Independent Media, a campaign strategy and communications firm that works closely with conservative advocacy organizations and lawmakers from coast to coast. He has run and worked on dozens of successful campaigns across the country, and he’ll help participants with the “how.”

Let the monumental win in Virginia be your motivation for getting involved and helping to build a Maine that’s better for families!

Click here to register for our Candidate Training, and let’s take back Maine.

Sincerely,

Carroll Conley
