Save the Date!

We will be holding a Campaign School on Dec. 10-11 at the Faith Evangelical Free Church in Waterville. Cost remains low at $40. Click here for details and to secure your place

Maine needs parents, church networks, and community leaders who are committed to Christ to get involved with government at the local level. Our Campaign School in December will equip anyone to win an election. Feedback from our two initial trainings were positive and strong. The December dates will be one training and will allow more time for the same solid teaching materials.

The sessions will focus on worldview, campaign planning, communications, and nuts-and-bolts logistics.

The Campaign School is designed to help interested candidates (and those who want to help them) answer two questions when it comes to running and winning: WHY and HOW?

Calvary Chapel Appeal Rejected

On Monday, the United States Supreme Court rejected an appeal from Calvary Chapel in Orrington, the church that sued Governor Janet Mills for pandemic restrictions on the ability to freely practice religion.

Unfortunately, the Supreme Court did not explain why the appeal was denied.

Liberty Counsel, which represents the church, says the case is still pending at the 1st Circuit Court of Appeals, even though the Supreme Court will not be reviewing it. The Christian Civic League of Maine is certainly disappointed, perhaps not surprised, at this recent decision. We ask all to pray for our leaders who deal with these important issues, that they would seek God’s guidance.  We are thankful for the Liberty Counsel and other national groups who continue to fight this battle and continue to help churches wrestle with the conflict we are all facing, concerning rights and liberties that come only from God.

We will keep you updated on the case as it develops!

Wrapping up Redistricting

The major redistricting effort in Maine culminated with a joint press release from both Democrat and Republican leaders – something we don’t see every day! Redistricting is required every ten years after the U.S. Census is completed. Our elected representatives worked together and reached an agreement, rather than dragging out the process with ugly fighting and accusations of gerrymandering.

You can view the updated district map here. It was approved by a two-thirds majority in both chambers of Maine’s Legislature and then confirmed by the governor’s signature.

Maine set an example for the rest of the country on how to get it done!

The United States Supreme Court announced it will hear arguments for the Maine-based case Carson v. Makin on December 8th. The justices will decide if Maine can exclude religious schools from the state’s tuition program. Join us in prayer for a successful outcome from this monumental case! Other critical cases involving abortion and religious freedom will be heard this term.

As we head into the weekend, I hope this verse might bring some rest:

“It is the Lord who goes before you, he will be with you and will never fail you or forsake you. So do not fear or be dismayed.” (Deuteronomy 31:8)

Blessings to all!
