I would have despaired unless I had believed I would see the goodness of God in the land of the living. Psalm 27:13
Dear Friend,
I’ve recently had several conversations with donors and allies that went something like this, “I’m so discouraged and disappointed with the election results. I’m through with politics – – I’m just going to focus on loving and sharing Jesus.“ I can relate to those sentiments, and Lord knows there isn’t enough Jesus loving and sharing going on, but we do not have to choose between executing the Great Commission and responsibly fulfilling our God-ordained roles as parents, spouses, citizens, or any other temporal assignment from the Lord.
No matter how secular or corrupt “politics” may be, now is not the time to abandon this arena that Jesus has given us to advocate for the sanctity of every human life, religious freedom, and Biblical morality. I recognize the excess and imbalance of some of our allies on the right, but their ineffectiveness does not change the fact that the unborn, our grandchildren, and our neighbors are counting on us to defend and promote God’s timeless truths.
When I look over the bills that will be before our legislature, I can tell you the other side has not quit. Once again, there is no shortage of assaults upon life, our God-given freedoms, and even common sense. With the legislature convening in quarantine, it is more critical than ever that state leaders hear directly from their constituents. That is where the League’s Beacon Campaign comes in. The funds raised for our Beacon Campaign give us the resources to:
- research bills and provide support to our allies in the legislature
- inform you of opportunities to use your voice to be an advocate
- identify and recruit like-minded citizens to advocate through social media
- create persuasive and informative content for legislative topics via social media platforms
Our 2021 Beacon Campaign goal is $40,000. The great challenge in raising funds for the Beacon Campaign is lobbying activities are not tax-deductible. Please make a special gift and check the Beacon Campaign box on the enclosed coupon.
Praise the Lord for the tremendous response to our End-of-Year Campaign. Because we met and exceeded our goal of $100,000, the Board of Directors has authorized me to fill our Church Ambassador Network director position. This could be a full-time or part-time position. If you have any interest about this exciting opportunity, email me at carroll.conley@gmail.com.
Finally, I want to offer our prayers and condolences to the family of our beloved board member, John Ambielli, who lost his battle with cancer and went to be with his Lord on January 21st. He certainly will be missed.
Let us not grow weary in well-doing and continue to pray that Maine will be a state where God is honored, religious freedom flourishes, families thrive, and life is cherished.
Sincerely,
Carroll Conley
