A Maine Without Roe

Last Friday, the US House of Representatives tragically passed the “Women’s Health Protection Act” – a radical bill that would legalize limitless abortion across the country. Thankfully, the bill is expected to die in the Senate.

Radical abortion supporters, however, are trying to push this bill through ahead of the Supreme Court hearing arguments for Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization on December 1st. When the Supreme Court announces their ruling next spring, it is very possible Roe v. Wade could be overturned.

The abortion industry is panicking.

The Beacon, a project of the pro-abortion Maine People’s Alliance organization, recently ran an opinion piece titled, “What happens without Roe v. Wade in Maine?”

The author expects readers to fret about “access to healthcare” and “reproductive justice,” both phrases obviously euphemisms for killing the unborn.

But here’s what we see in a Maine without Roe v. Wade

We see a state where the unborn child finally has a safe home. We see a culture that values life increasing and building up. We see expecting mothers and fathers who might have otherwise rashly turned to an abortion clinic, finally experiencing the joys of parenthood.

We see an increased local awareness of pregnancy resource centers and a better understanding among the public of what these amazing centers do. We see eyes opening to the sanctity of life, the physical development of the unborn child, and the generosity, support, and love of neighbors in Maine.

We see a better Maine.

In the upcoming months, there will be intense fear-mongering from the radical left about what a post-Roe world looks like. Some will threaten of the “chaos” in the streets that might ensue should Roe be overturned. But we must hold fast to the God-given truth that life is precious and all persons, born and not yet born, are created in the image of God. Every person is worthy of our protection and worthy of our fight.

Light dawns for the just; gladness, for the honest of heart. (Psalm 97:11)

The radical left and pro-death culture will do its best to distract us from the truth that abortion is a terrible, terrible sin. As Christians, we do not accept a morally relativistic world where everyone does what’s right in their own eyes (Judges 17:6).

There are certain absolute truths; things that are distinctly good or evil. Abortion is evil, and even to the non-religious person, it is clearly wrong.

So, what will a Maine without Roe look like?

A little bit more like Heaven.

May God send us fortitude and hope!
