Pro-Family Governor LePage Is Entering the Race!

Former governor, Paul LePage, is entering the race for Maine’s 2022 gubernatorial election. In his previous terms, Gov. LePage was a solid ally of CCL on the issues of parental rights, religious liberty, and life. Ultimately, Maine needs elected officials who will consistently protect the family!

We also thought it would be helpful to clarify how both of our organizations, the Christian Civic League and the Christian Education League, each exist in the public sphere.

The Christian Education League is a 501(c)(3), which exists primarily to educate. CEL operates the Church Ambassador Network, produces non-partisan voter guides, and sponsors other educational activities.

The Christian Civic League, however, is a 501(c)(4), which exists to lobby, recruit, and endorse like-minded, pro-family candidates. In CCL’s work, the mission is to encourage and support candidate allies who will vote for and enact policy that’s favorable to our values.

This is why CCL is encouraged Gov. LePage is back on the scene. Anti-family and anti-religious liberty policies have unfortunately increased in Maine, and we need to reverse course as soon as possible.

While previously in office, Gov. LePage defunded Planned Parenthood, stopped bureaucrats from allowing boys into girls’ private spaces in schools, and took a stand against legalizing assisted suicide. He recently asserted that vaccine mandates have no place in Maine and that parental rights are of the utmost importance:

 “I have said our local school boards and parents should be empowered to make decisions for their own communities, rather than be dictated to by Augusta. I recently urged schools to be open, and stay open, so our kids do not continue to fall behind. However, Janet Mills in the past has chosen dictates rather than empowering parents and local officials.”

 This is the kind of liberty that needs to be returned to the people.

We hope that Gov. LePage’s announcement encourages you that pro-family policies will come back in Maine!

In the months leading up to the election, we can expect the radical left to ramp up attacks on not only Gov. LePage, but anyone who supports his platform, including the CCL. Let us remember God’s Word: 

“Do not be weakhearted or afraid, alarmed or frightened by them.

For it is the LORD, your God, who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies and give you victory.” (Deuteronomy 20:3-4)
