We have some great news from California, of all places!
Grace Community Church, led by Rev. John MacArthur, will be paid $800k by the state of California and Los Angeles County in a legal settlement after the church defied Gov. Newsom’s tyrannical COVID restrictions and continued to worship in-person.
This legal settlement is an acknowledgment (be it a stubborn one) that the government overstepped its authority in restricting citizens’ First Amendment rights!
“We know that there is no circumstance that can cause the church to close,” MacArthur wrote, celebrating the victory. “The church is not only a building but is the bride of Christ and exists to proclaim the truth.”
Amen!
Their battle should be an example to all of us – that religious freedom is worth the fight.
As of 1 a.m. ET yesterday morning, Texas’ Heartbeat act became law, meaning children cannot be aborted after a fetal heartbeat is detected, usually around the fifth or sixth week of gestation! The U.S. Supreme Court declined to halt the law before it went into effect.
The pro-abortionists who appealed the law acknowledged that 85% of abortions in Texas are beyond that fetal heartbeat benchmark…meaning abortions will significantly decrease in the Lone Star State!
This is such encouraging news during a time that seems very dark to many of us. We pray that not only do more states (especially Maine) follow suit but that Christians may work together to promote a culture that values life from the moment of conception.
Take hope here in Maine, too…a lawsuit against Gov. Mills’ COVID-19 vaccine mandate was filed last week by the Liberty Counsel with the U.S. District Court of Maine and was expedited by Judge Jon D. Levy, who is overseeing the litigation process.
The lawsuit was filed on behalf of over 2,000 healthcare workers against Maine’s governor, Janet Mills, officials of the Department of Health and Human Services, Maine Center for Disease Control, as well as five of the largest hospitals within the state regarding the recent COVID-19 vaccine mandate issued by Gov. Mills for healthcare workers.
According to Life News, the state of Maine has been ignoring federal law by trying to remove religious exemptions as well as accommodations for healthcare workers who are opposed to receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. The plaintiffs in the case are healthcare workers who have faced termination because employers are not accepting religious exemptions.
May we have the same courage as these plaintiffs!
