Encourage a Legislator
We are thankful for our state and national partner Concerned Women for America [CWA]. Each year we are more than happy to help CWA’s effort to get citizens to pray for our leaders through their Encourage a Legislator [EAL] program.
EAL volunteers agree to pray daily for the legislator they are assigned and to send a postcard once a month for 6 months, from January-June the first year and January-April the second year. The postcard is provided by CWA which also provides suggested messages and themes for your notes.
EAL is not about lobbying. It is an effective program that simply lets our legislators (regardless of party) know someone is praying for them and their family. It is a great opportunity for volunteers to thank these leaders for their public service. After spending ten years in Augusta, I can tell you that the legislators really do appreciate getting notes of encouragement from people they have never met.
If you sign up to volunteer, you will receive an EAL package with a brief bio of your legislator, 6 postcards with suggested messages, and other literature explaining the program. If you are interested in being an EAL volunteer, email CWA’s Encourage a Legislator coordinator, Catherine Carsley, at cat555car@hotmail.com. Be sure to include your name, mailing address, and phone number.
Even though we are facing restrictions due to the pandemic, we are still willing to serve your ministry by speaking in person or recording services for you. If you are interested in the League helping out with your pulpit needs, contact Carroll at carroll.conley@gmail.com
