I can’t write a July newsletter without wishing you a happy Independence Day. I do pray we all take some time aside from the parades, picnics, and fireworks to thank God for the freedoms we enjoy here in the U.S.A.
Without question, this past legislative session was one of the most disappointing we have experienced in many years. The fact is, we are not done yet! The Christian Civic League, along with our great allies for life, are pursuing Peoples Vetoes to overturn LD 820: Tax-Funded Abortions and LD 1313: Physician-Assisted Suicide.

The first step in these huge undertakings is gathering over 80,000 signatures to secure our spot on the ballot to overturn these terrible bills. We cannot accomplish this task without dedicated and trained volunteers. If you are interested in being part of this army for life, please use the button below to sign up.

Mike McClellan, our Policy Director, and Chris Mishou, our Executive Administrator, have worked very hard to create a helpful tool to show how our leaders voted this last session. Click here for our 2019 Mid-term Voter Guide. There is a Senate and House guide, one sorted by party, one by district, and one alphabetically. This tool is a 501(c)4 document; while it is very informative, we do not recommend it being used in churches like our election voter guides. Several people have asked about contributing to this project. When making a donation to the CCL, note Mid-term Voter Guide on your check’s memo line.  If you’d like to give online, click here.

Thanks to all of you who prayed for our first Better Work Job Fair. Under the leadership of our Outreach Director, Tristan Starbird, Centerpoint Community Church hosted our initial job fair that truly exceeded our expectations. The number of vendors, participants, and people hired just blew us away. Several of the participating employers said our Better Work Job Fair was the best they have ever attended – PTL!

We are very encouraged with Tristan‘s Outreach work with job fairs and our Church Ambassador Network. Remember, the League took a leap of faith by hiring Tristan and launching these programs. Please consider a special God and Country gift or offering to fund the Christian Education League’s Outreach programs. If you’d like to give online, click here.

I have a very exciting announcement. We have secured Joyce and John Smith for our Annual Fall Banquet speakers. Joyce and John are the mother and son from the movie Breakthrough, which tells of the miraculous healing of John after he had been dead for over 50 minutes as a result of going through the ice. Their pastor, Jason Noble, will also be joining us. Mark your calendars for these events: November 14, at Crosspoint Church/Bangor; November 15, at East Auburn Baptist Church; November 18, at Presque Isle Wesleyan church. Click here to watch the trailer for Breakthrough.

These past few months certainly have been very challenging. Your faithful, financial support and prayers made it possible for us to effectively advocate for God‘s truth as we continue to partner with you to see Maine become a state where God is honored, religious freedom flourishes, families thrive, and life is cherished.
